On Dec. 27, the YMCA will be hosting an afternoon of alumni basketball.
As a means of bringing back part of the tradition started by Anse MacDonald in the 1980s, all former high school basketball players (males and females) are encouraged to come together and play some pick up games at the YMCA and celebrate the game that created some great county rivalries and memories.
To alleviate the potential for large numbers, two time slots have been developed for basketball alumni to stop by and play. Alumni from the original seven high schools (NGJHS, WP, EP, SHS, THS, PA and WHS) will play between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and from 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., alumni from NNEC, NRHS, and PA will play.
There is no cost to participate, however, alumni are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable item for the local food bank. Donations will be collected at the door.
