NEW GLASGOW - The Pictou County peewee A Crushers continued their successful season thus far with two victories and one loss in their last three games to hold an overall record of 13-5-1.
Their start is good enough to hold second spot in the Fundy/Highland Peewee A League.
Saturday they hosted the Antigonish Bulldogs that saw an improved Bulldog squad come out strong, holding the Crushers to a 1-0 lead after the first period. The tide changed in the second stanza as the Crushers came to life with four unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 victory. Scoring for Pictou County were: Luke Young (2), Sam Hickey (2) and Logan Decoste. Assists went to: Munro Mackay, Bailey Pye, Evan Shea, Brody Bowering and Thomas Devine. Tyler Pictou was the lone scorer for Antigonish, while Shea was the player of the game for the Crushers.
In their most recent game against the Brookfield Elks they crushed them 9-2.
Leading the charge for the Crushers was Decoste with a hat trick. MacKay (2), Young (2), Brody Bowering and Ian MacDonald added the remaining goals for Pictou County. Assisting on the goals were: Blake Fraser (2), Thomas Devine (2), Duncan Cameron, Bowering and Shea. Evan Reynolds was the player of the game.
In a makeup game, also played last week, the visiting Truro Bearcats dropped the Crushers 2-0. Bailey MacKay was the Crushers player of the game.
