BROOKFIELD – The Pictou County peewee A Crushers resumed play over the weekend after the Christmas break earning a 1-1 tie on the road Sunday against the Brookfield Elks.

The game remained scoreless until early in the third period when Stellarton native Luke Young took a pass from Brody Bowering and beat the Brookfield goalie low to the glove side.

Unfortunately the Crushers couldn’t hold on and Brookfield evened the score with just over four minutes remaining. Aidan Robinson of Pictou made several key saves to keep the Crushers in the game.

Scoring for Brookfield was Dakota Nelson with an assist going to Ben Fraser.

The Crushers continue with league play this Saturday against Cumberland at home and return again to the Don Henderson Arena in Brookfield for another tussle against the Brookfield Elks on Jan. 12.
