Pictou County falls 6-2 at home to Yarmouth
NEW GLASGOW – Pictou County’s win streak ended at six games after suffering a 6-2 loss tonight to the Yarmouth Mariners.
Things started well for the Crushers, putting early pressure on the Mariners, but 5:33 into the first Colin Campbell scored to give Yarmouth a 1-0 lead.
Late in the period Evan Carmody took a hooking call before a Jordan McInnis boarding penalty eight seconds later, to put the Crushers down two men.
The Mariners took advantage with Kyle Campbell standing to Brandon Thibeau’s right, putting the puck short side to give them a two-goal lead after the first period.
In the second Pictou County bounced back with a pair of their own.
Rory Graham fired a laser from the point that beat Chase Gaudet 9:55 into the frame.
With under two minutes to go in the second Garrett Holmes took perfect pass on the doorstep from Nick Parker in the corner, tapping it home to tie the game 2-2 after two.
Just 1:06 into the third Sean Fraser took an interference penalty, giving the Crushers a chance to take the lead, but as the Mariners killed off the penalty Fraser came out of the box and walked in alone on Thibeau, beating him glove side with a backhand.
