TRENTON - The Antigonish Bulldogs snapped a five-game skid as they edged the Pictou County Scotians 4-3 in Trenton on Sunday.
At the Trenton Arena it was the rookies who came through big for the Antigonish. First rookie Ryan Keefe broke a 3-3 tie with just 1:05 to play in period three. Another Bulldog rookie Andrew Foster chipped in with two goals and an assist to lead the Bulldogs to their first win in 2014.
A third Antigonish rookie Gavin McLaughlin opened the scoring in the first period while rookie goaltender Brandon MacDonald picked up the win for the Bulldogs, making 45 saves.
Brandon Verge notched his league-leading 25th and 26th goals of the year with Craig Matheson rounding out the Scotians scoring.
Spencer Scott was tagged with the loss facing 37 shots for the Scotians. The loss was the third straight for Pictou County.
