Northern Subway Selects lose to Penguins, tie Boston Pizza

NEW GLASGOW - The Northern Subway Selects played two games over the weekend, coming up short in both.

The first game on Saturday matched the shorthanded Selects, due to injuries and suspensions, with the ProCresting Penguins with the Penguins winning 6-4.

The Selects were led by Amanda Dunning (New Glasgow) with two goals, Katie Pentz (Trenton) with a goal and assist, and a goal by Hilary Taylor (New Glasgow). Assists went to Taylor Perry (Trenton) and affiliate Emma Boudreau (New Glasgow) with two assists.

On Sunday in Bedford the Selects tied the league leading Metro Boston Pizza 3-3.

The Selects were led by captain Katie Marcott (Port Hood) with two goals and Emily Dorion (Antigonish) with a goal. Assists went to Rachelle Hinkley (Inverness), Baille Marcott (Port Hood), Siena Forance (Inverness), and Perry.

Goalie Jenna McNamara (Hammonds Plains) picked up her second tie of the year against Metro.
