With the grade 7s of the team heading to New Glasgow Academy next year, and the grade 8s and 9s heading to North Nova, it was the last tournament opportunity for the team as a whole.
It was a positive and fun experience for the girls.
“I received a lot of positive comments from the coaches,” head coach John Van Vulpen said.
He said they had a lot of support from businesses and parents, which helped to make it that much better.
Van Vulpen said they always try to have one local team in their tournaments. This time around, it was Trenton Middle School.
Although they didn’t meet up this weekend, they have played them before.
Trenton fared well, winning the second pool consolation game against North Colchester 46-10.
With the exception of one or two lopsided scores, Van Vulpen said the games were close, including the final up until the last quarter.
“It was a fast, hard, and aggressive game,” he said, adding that E.B. Chandler eventually out hustled them.
However, he’s pleased with his team.
“The girls have come a long way,” he said.
