Scotians split weekend at home

TRENTON – Saturday night the Antigonish Bulldogs continued their success against the Pictou County Scotians, dropping them 5-3 at the Trenton Arena.

Keenan Lima, Seamus Boyle and Bradley MacEachern scored for Pictou County.

Antigonish was led by Fraser White’s hat-trick, while Shawn Long and Riley Cameron rounded out the Bulldogs scoring.

Spencer Scott made 35 saves in the loss, while Patrick McNamara made 48 in the win.

In Trenton on Sunday night Lucas Eshelman’s shootout goal stood as the winner as the Scotians edged the Strait Pirates 4-3.

Steven MacNeil, Jason Thorpe and Brandon Verge all scored for Pictou in regulation, while Brandon Boudreau, Brennan Delaney and Marc Bourgeois all answered for the Pirates.

The teams were tied at one after one with the Pirates controlling the shot clock at 20-16. The Scotians took a 2-1 lead in the second while out shooting the Pirates 23-13 in the period.

In the third Brennan Delaney had the Pirates tied at two before Verge restored the Pictou lead at 3-2. Then with just over three minutes to play Marc Bourgeois had the Pirates tied at three to set the stage for a five-minute overtime period.

Scott picked up his seventh win, while Marcus Otmar took the loss.
