Scotians split weekend, two points back of second

TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians opened their weekend with a 2-1 loss to Cumberland before picking up a 3-2 win at home on Sunday over Sackville to sit two points back of the Strait Pirates in the Sid Rowe Division.

Sunday At the Trenton Arena Andrew Kennedy broke a 2-2 tie with the Sackville Blazers with 52 seconds to play in overtime. Lucas Eshelman and Brandon Verge scored in regulation time as the Scotians picked up their 13th win.

Jarrett Johns and Shayne Oderkirk replied for Sackville.

Spencer Scott picked up his eighth win, while Jonathan Boutin took the loss.

On Friday night on the road Bradley MacEachern scored the lone Scotians goal in their 2-1 loss to the Blues.

Scott made 24 saves in the loss, while Jessie Cox made 35 saves for the win.
