Thibeau named MHL second star of the week

Weeks Crushers goaltender Brandon Thibeau was named the MHL second star of the week after going 3-0 last week. 

He posted a GAA of 1.67 and a save percentage of .948 in those three wins, which allowed Pictou County to vault back into top spot in the MHL’s overall rankings as well as back into the weekly CJHL Top 20 rankings.

On Wednesday night at home, Thibeau turned aside 34 shots in the Crushers 5-3 victory over the Dieppe Commandos.

The following night, Thibeau and the Crushers played host to Woodstock and continued with the winning ways, defeating the Slammers 4-1 as he made 31 saves.

Finally, the third year MHL veteran put forth another outstanding effort on Saturday night in Truro. Thibeau made 28 saves and was named the game’s first star is his club’s 4-1 victory over the Bearcats. The victory was Thibeau’s 20th of the season.

Overall, Thibeau sports a record of 20-9-6 with a 2.83 GAA, .916 save percentage and three shutouts. This also marks the third time this season he has been chosen as one of the league’s three stars.

Jordan Kennedy of the Miramichi Timberwolves was named the first star this week after posting two goals and seven assists in two games, while Bryce Milson, also of the Timberwolves scored four goals and added three assists in those two games.
