Scotians fall in final regular season game

TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians lost their final NSJHL game of the regular season 3-1 to the Glace Bay Miners on Sunday night.

Shawn Neville and Jordan Langlois gave the Miners a 2-0 lead after two periods.

Brandon MacKenzie, this year’s recipient of the Ross Forbes Memorial Trophy, scored to cut the lead to 2-1 with 13:42 remaining in the third.

Tyler MacLeod scored the third Miners goal just three minutes later.

Spencer Scott made 31 saves in the loss, while Nicholas Walsh posted 32 saves for the win.

The Scotians will now meet the Strait Pirates in the playoffs beginning Feb. 21 in Port Hawkesbury.

Pictou County will play Games 2 and 3 at home on Feb. 23 and 26 before Game 4 in Port Hawkesbury on Feb. 28.
