Trenton Trojans win West Pictou tourney

STELLARTON – Saturday night in Stellarton, the Trenton Trojans defeated G.R. Saunders 38-35 in the championship game of the West Pictou Elementary Boys Basketball Tournament.  

The game was rescheduled because of the CUPE strike from earlier in January.

Game stars were Logan Taylor for Trenton and Rhys Stevenson for G.R. Saunders.

Scoring for Trenton were Taylor (8), Ben Turnbull (8), Brady Campbell (6), Jared Fraser (6), Keigan Falcetelli (4), Nick MacInnis (2), Kevin Rankin (2) and Brandon Campbell (2). Zac Baillie and Carter Dunn played excellent defense for the Trojans.

Scoring for G.R. were Stevenson (10), Eric Ferguson (5), Marcus MacLeod (4), Aiden McPhee (4), Aaron Hubley (4), Noah Fraser (3), Luke Young (2) and Parker Swain (2). Cody MacDougall with one point rounded out the scoring for Stellarton.

The Trojans enter the Elementary Boys League closing tournament, with a 14-0 record, which will be played in the near future.
