NEW GLASGOW – The Northern Subway Selects were eliminated from the Nova Scotia Midget AAA Female Hockey playoffs after a 1-0 loss Friday and a 3-1 loss Sunday as the Procresting Penguins took the series 3-1.

The Selects played well defensively and were able to shut the Penguins offense down in the Friday game only allowing the one goal but didn't create much offense for themselves. Selects' goaltender Jenna McNamara (Hammonds Plains) played a strong game making 24 of 25 saves.

Saturday's 3-1 loss was much like Friday with the Selects not creating much offense. Katie Pentz (Trenton) scored the lone Selects goal with an assist by Katie Marcott (Port Hood).

Katie Marcott (Port Hood) and goalie Jenna McNamara (Hammonds Plains) are both graduating this year. The coaching staff said both were true leaders on the team and they wish them the best in the future.
