ANTIGONISH – The Antigonish female midget AA Bulldogs played a doubleheader against the Dartmouth Whalers on Saturday at the Antigonish Arena, resulting in a loss and a tie.
Dartmouth dominated the first game to win 5-0, with Antigonish coming back strong in the second game but unable to hold onto the lead.
In the second game the Whalers scored in the first period, with the Bulldogs answering back with two goals in the second period. Emma Boudreau scored unassisted on the power play when Dartmouth took a four-minute head contact penalty. Katelyn Dunn of New Glasgow added the second goal when she tapped in a backhand from Kerrilyn Kennedy after Jodie MacDougall shot the puck at the net. Shauna Campbell scored unassisted in the third period to lead the game 3-1.
The Whalers got two more points to tie the game, and it ended with a 3-3 score in regulation time.
The second game counted as Antigonish’s last regular season game as well as the first playoff game in the South Conference League. The Bulldogs finished the regular season tied for third place with Dartmouth, and in the playoffs are tied for second place with Dartmouth and the Halifax Hawks.
