Northern Rebels wrap up round-robin playoffs

TRENTON – The Northern Rebels peewee B team have completed their northern conference round-robin playoffs with a 1-1-1 record.

On Saturday, the Rebels traveled to Richmond Arena to take on the Strait Richmond Pirates, losing 5-2.

Scoring for the Rebels were Broden DeCoff and Clark Robertson, while assists went to Nicholas MacDonald and Cody LeBlanc.

On Sunday the Rebels hosted Cape Breton County in Trenton. The game ended in a 3-3 tie, with goals going to Nicholas MacDonald, Ben Turnbull and Matt Allen. Assists went to Allen, Robertson and Braydon Killen. Ryan Royals made some key saves and stopped Cape Breton's leading scorer on a penalty shot with 54 seconds remaining in overtime.

The Rebels finished their playoff run with a win in Thorburn Monday evening. They defeated the Golden Hawks 2-1. Scoring for the Rebels were Nick MacInnis and Madison Bond, while Turnbull and Nick Rogerson earned assists.

The Rebels are the host team of the upcoming March Break tournament in the peewee B division. Their games begin Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Trenton Arena.
