Friday night the Strait Pirates were able to stave off elimination, defeating the Pictou County Scotians 4-3 in overtime.
Brandon Boudreau opened the scoring for the Pirates 7:17 into the first period, with Mitchell Balmas increasing the lead to 2-0 just 35 seconds later.
Brandon MacKenzie got the Scotians within a goal a minute later, as the Pirates took a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Nathan Hayes increased the lead to two again in the second period at the 2:42 mark.
Matthew Oldfield and Steven MacNeil scored to knot the game 3-3 after two.
Neither team scored in the third.
It took 12:45 of overtime until Matthew Papineau broke the tie to force Game 7 and win the game for Port Hawkesbury.
Spencer Scott made 29 saves in the loss, while Keagan Butler made 28.
Game 7 is Sunday night in Trenton at 7:30 p.m.
