Led by coaches Ross White, Jonathan Dixon and Ron MacDonald, the New Glasgow Bombers atom house team won gold in the 37th Annual Trenton Steelers March Break Tournament held in Trenton March 10-11.
They opened the tournament against the host Trenton Steelers on Monday morning, winning 3-2. Colby Niles led the Bombers with two goals, while Nick Manos added a single goal.
Their second game on Monday afternoon was against the Glace Bay Atomics, which the Bombers won 7-1. Scoring for New Glasgow were: Niles (3), Isaac Willison (2), Carter White and Barrett Baker, with assists going to Lily Sullivan and Riley Dixon.
Tuesday morning New Glasgow was up against the Halifax Huskies, walking away with a 3-1 win.
Goals went to Niles, Baker and Zach Robertson.
The championship game that afternoon was a rematch with Halifax. New Glasgow came away with a 5-4 win to take gold.
Scoring were Alexander MacDonald, Niles, Robertson, Breton MacDonnell and White. Assists went to White, Willison, Sullivan, Robertson and Manos.
Goaltender Xander Vohs was strong between the pipes for the entire tournament.
MVPs for the tournament were awarded to White, Katie Ferris, Robertson and Vohs. The lucky player award went to Baker.
