Ramblers force Game 7 with Crushers

Weeks Crushers

AMHERST - In a must-win game the Amherst Ramblers defeated the Weeks Crushers 2-1 on Friday night at the Amherst Stadium to force Game 7 in their Eastlink Division semifinal series.

Francis Alarie opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal 5:27 into the first period to give Amherst a 1-0 lead.

In the second period Brett Shute increased the lead to 2-0 at the 14:55 mark.

With just 1:18 remaining in regulation the Crushers cut the Ramblers lead in half, but it wasn't enough as Amherst held on for the 2-1 victory. 

Brandon Thibeau made 29 saves for the Crushers in the loss, while Richard Tingley made 26 for Amherst in the win.

Game 7 is Saturday night at the Pictou County Wellness Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
