HALIFAX – The NNEC boys and girls rugby teams both went undefeated over the weekend at the Saint Mary's rugby tournament in Halifax.
The girls team finished with three wins and a tie, while the boys team went undefeated as well, going 4-0.
Up against Citadel High School in their first game, the girls won 15-5. Scoring for North Nova were Keeley MacCuish, Paige Clarke and Rebecca Taylor.
In their second game they tied Avonview High, with Tori MacCuish scoring the lone try.
Their final two games were against JL Ilsley and Prince Andrew High, which the girls won 15-5 and 45-0.
Scoring trys against JL Ilsley were: Lindsey Fiet, Keeley MacCuish and Lilly MacDonald.
Scoring trys against Prince Andrew High were: Caroline Straub (2), Keeley MacCuish (2), Maria LeBlanc (2), Clarke, Taylor and Kayla Green.
In the boys first game they defeated Avonview High 20-0 with Lucas MacDonald scoring two trys, while Mark Vokey and Cole Livingstone scored singles.
In a low scoring, hard fought game, they defeated their county rivals, Northumberland High School 10-0. Carson Dunbar and Lucas MacDonald scored the two NNEC trys.
On Saturday they played Halifax West, winning 15-5. Cale Mason, MacDonald and Livingstone scored for North Nova.
In their final game and second meeting with Avonview High, NNEC won 20-5.
Scoring trys were: Eric MacLeod (2), MacDonald and Vokey.
This tournament had no conversion kicks and games were 25 minutes in length.
