STELLARTON – On the 125th anniversary of the Town of Stellarton, the Homecoming golf tournament will be celebrating a milestone year as well.

This is the 25th year of the tournament, which will be held July 24 at Abercrombie Country Club.

As part of the 125th and 25th year celebrations, the homecoming committee will recognize Bob White for his many years of volunteering as a chair and organizer of the annual tournament. Bob passed away last year after a lengthy battle with cancer, but had worked on the host committee for most of its existence.

The annual tournament recognizes an individual winner based on the Calloway handicap system and awards the DR Hayman Memorial trophy each year to its winner. This year the committee is welcoming teams who would prefer to play a scramble format, but those teams would not be eligible for the champion’s trophy.

The host committee is hoping to enhance the prizes and awards to commemorate the 25th and 125th anniversaries. The prizes and awards banquet will feature a steak dinner and is hosted each year at the Air Force Association of Canada building in Stellarton at the conclusion of the tournament.

Tee times will begin at 11 a.m.

To register, contact the Stellarton Recreation office at 752-8944. Payment must be received by July 21.

For further information contact Jeff Green (752-7674) or Harvey MacLeod (752-4922).
