The annual Walter MacDonald charity golf tournament is fast approaching

Held in memory of MacDonald, who lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 26, 2000, he was known as someone who constantly helped others. This tournament is used to keep his memory alive, with all proceeds being donated in his name to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.

Being held Aug. 10 this year at Glen Lovat Golf Course, the tournament will be a four-person best ball format, with a limit of 25 teams. The overall low score will receive the MacDonald Cup and four championship jackets.

The entry fee is $400 per team, which includes golf, power carts and steak dinner.

This year’s two-day event will also feature the MacDonald Cup benefit being held on Aug. 9 at the Whitetail Pub in Westville. There will be entertainment from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. including performances by All in Good Time, Jim Dorie, The Sunday Jam Band and friends of the MacDonald Cup, Derek and Jessie.

Registered golfers receive free admission, with all others paying by donation at the door.

The tournament organizers are also selling progressive 50/50 tickets now until Sunday, Aug. 10 with the winning ticket being drawn at 8 p.m. at Glen Lovat Golf Course and live on 94.1 ECFM.
