Pictou County Rugby Club wins weekend matches

NEW GLASGOW - The Pictou County Rugby Club continued their winning ways this past Saturday at home.

The women started the day by defeating the second place Halifax Tars 42-15. Leading the way for the green and black was Alyssa Canning with four tries, with single tries going to Isabelle DeMont, Zarha Batool, Carmen MacDonald and Tanya Pellerine. Jessica Deagle made the lone conversion.

In men's action the county boys beat the Halifax Tars 27-12. Darryl Frazee led the scoring with two tries, while Graham Hayden, Jordan MacNeil and Dana O'Brien all had single tries. Evan MacDonald kicked the lone conversion.

All teams are now preparing for weekday games with the women playing in Truro on Wednesday and the men’s Division 2 team playing Thursday night in Truro against the Saints.

Next Tuesday, July 29 the Division 3 men will host Enfield at the Parkdale Field. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m.
