ST. ANNE, Man. - A father who is cycling from Ontario to Alberta to raise money in memory of his slain daughter has reached Manitoba.
Rodney Stafford's eight-year-old daughter Victoria, also known as Tori, was abducted and killed April 8 as she walked home from her Woodstock, Ont., school.
Rodney is using his 3,400-kilometre Kilometres For Kids ride to raise money and awareness for Child Find Ontario.
Since leaving his home in Woodstock on Aug. 5, he's raised about $15,000 in donations for the charity.
On Sunday, he rolled into St. Anne, Man., where he was to spend the night before heading to Winnipeg on Monday.
Stafford, 34, plans to end his fundraising trip in Edmonton where his daughter visited a favourite aunt last year. He'll then visit Jasper, Alta., where he'll release a purple balloon - Tori's favourite colour - from a mountain as a way to say goodbye to his daughter.
Police discovered Tori's remains on July 19 in a rural area north of Toronto.
Michael Thomas Rafferty, 28, and Terri-Lynne McClintic, 18, both of Woodstock, are charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder.
