It is quite a oddity how sink holes occur in areas where open mining takes place in close proximity. It may be a long distance in feet from the open pit mine in Stellarton but God only knows how far bodies of water run underground. In Britis Columbia there is a river which runs for miles under the land all the way into the State of Washington.Under the museum of Industry there is a very large reservoir of geothermic heat and i imagine that body of water may run under the Sobeys also and they might be able to be green buisness people by heating their complex geothermicly. That is if they do not at present.

I like how the engineer uses the terms probably caused and some old mine shaft as if they are surprised and have no clue why this could ever happen?! Good work Stellarton, your quick fix could potentially have cost someone their life!

I know this is totaly off topic, but it is just to bad that there is not a transit system in place in PC, and that could be avoided and people could save on gas and car expenses. Not trying to start a debate, just making a statement.

We should install a subway! Just think of the savings by not having to build the tunnel system. Lay track and we're good to go!

Yet AGAIN the news can't CORRECTLY report a story.
This is on Foord Street NOT Stellarton Road.

Someone needs to be fired, obvious errors get published by this paper over and over.

and to think they want to put a roundabout close by,next thing they will have a few open up by the new motel, some waste of tax dollars trying to develop an underground turmoil such as this area, hopefully one doesn't take the side or middle of that motel while people are in it,the council should be proud of themselves again.they can't say that during construction they wern't advised against it or about the possibility of sink holes in every inch of that land.
