CARIBOU - Police are now calling the suspicious death of a 30-year-old county man a homicide.
Kenneth Gregory McNamara was found dead near his Glen East Road home in Caribou Saturday morning. RCMP confirmed the homicide Sunday evening and said an autopsy has been conducted.
The cause of the man's death has not been released, however residents in the area say they did hear a shot Saturday before police discovered McNamara on the secluded dirt road. Police immediately labelled the death as suspicious. The body was removed from the scene by van shortly before 5 p.m. that day.
Dale Gratto of New Glasgow, an acquaintance of McNamara, said he was renting the property at 12 Glen Road East to own and lived there with his girlfriend.
McNamara, he said, fished lobster last season and was a nice guy.
"He seemed like a decent guy, a pretty pleasant fellow," Gratto said. "It's a tragedy. I couldn't see anyone wanting to hurt him."
The RCMP's North East Nova Major Crime Unit is investigating the homicide.
