NEW?GLASGOW?- A Churchville man will lose his licence for a year after pleading guilty to failing a breathalyser on Monday.
Benjamin Arthur Ward, 26, was "driving erratically" around 8 p.m. on Nov. 28 when he caught the eye of a New Glasgow police officer.
When he was pulled over, he failed a roadside breathalyser device and was brought to the station for a breathalyser. Readings taken 20 minutes apart showed a reading of .150 mgs and .140 mgs, nearly twice the legal limit of .080 mgs, Crown attorney Herman Felderhof told New Glasgow provincial court.
Ward told the court he's lost his job driving a road grader since his arrest in late November.
"You were almost double the legal limit, but fortunately for you, you were just under two times the legal limit mark at .160 mgs, which would have brought a stiffer penalty," Judge Theodore Tax told him.
Ward will have to pay a $1,000 fine and will lose his licence for a year for the offence.
