TRENTON - The Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates mounted a third period comeback to beat the Pictou County?Junior Scotians last night at Trenton?Rink.
Leading 2-1 well into the final period, the Pirates' Alex Porter capitalized on an end-to-end-rush, beating Scotians goalie Adam Roth on a shot which?bounced off?his blocker side, up over his shoulder and into the net.
Brandon Mullins picked up the game-winner at 9:49 of the third and the game was sealed on an empty-net goal by Evan?Sparling with 50 seconds left.
For the Scotians, Julian?Perrota picked up the team's?first?goal at 4:55 of the second period, assisted by Fraser Roddick and Neil Pashkoski. The Scotian's second goal came from Nick?Roddick, unassisted.
After a slow start, the Scotians were able to pace the Pirates, but couldn't generate?scoring opportunities.
That was on coach?George Frazee's mind following the game.
"Last couple of weeks, we've been working on our defence - and we've done that very well. But our offence, so far it's not been there. So I put a call out to our guys that we rely on to get goals that they have to come up on the team's behalf," he said.
The?Scotians do not have a home game this Sunday on account of the Super Bowl. They return to Trenton?rink in two weeks time to face the Bay?Ducks.
