NEW GLASGOW - The Krista Nix rink turned in a solid performance at the Glooscap Curling Club Junior Spiel in Kentville last weekend.
The rink, which competes out of the Bluenose Curling Club, won a silver medal at that event, and will travel to the Dartmouth Curling Club for the Under-15 Greenspiel this weekend.
In Kentville, the team defeated a mixed team from Yarmouth by a 10-3 score, then earned a 4-2 victory over a boys' team from Chester and a 3-2 win over a male squad from Bridgewater.
The Nix rink lost the final 9-5 to the MacCormack rink of Windsor, which was another all-male entry.
Members of the team include Casey Romain Brooke Mailman, Jamie MacCarron, Taryn Roy and Krista Nix.
The Greenspiel is a Nova Scotia Curling Association event and will have a 20-team female draw, following double-knockout format. There also are 19 men's rinks at the event, but the two sides will compete independently of one another and crown a male and female champion.
