NEW GLASGOW - Weather has thrown a gutter ball at the Heather Bowling Lanes in the form of a roof leak.
The leak has forced manager Vernon Stinson to temporarily shut down lanes one to four. Water damaged tiles in the seating area but hasn't affected the lanes themselves.
"We are addressing the situation. We've had roofers in a few times. We are working on it," he said.
Stinson said it's hard to get anything accomplished on the roof until conditions improve.
"We need some dry weather to get rid of the ice and melt up there."
A couple of busy times are rapidly approaching at the lanes, March Break and the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids in April. Stinson said with luck, things will be back to normal by Bowl for Kids at least.
"Hopefully it will be ready for Big Brothers."
Stinson said once the weather breaks and things dry up the floor could quickly be back in shape.
"We have to repair the floor; the water is lifting some tiles, but we could do that in a day. I'm hoping for an early spring."
