PENTICTON, B.C. - After having her string of four straight provincial titles snapped in 2009, Kelly Scott's rink out of Kelowna returned to the winner's circle in convincing fashion Sunday afternoon.
Scott's foursome of lead Jacquie Armstrong, second Sasha Carter and vice Jenna Schraeder captured the 2010 Scottie's B.C. women's curling championship with an 8-4 victory over Kelley Law of New Westminster in the gold medal game played at the Penticton Curling Club.
"We came really prepared this week. Our team has worked very hard this year," said Scott, who works as an accountant and office manager for a family-run lawn business.
"We fell short of our Olympic goal and were tired but we were able to come here and have a solid week. We hope to represent B.C. well at the Scottie's."
Scott, the national champion in 2007 and 2008, who also won the world title in 2007, split during the week with Law, who also has a world title in her curling resume.
She controlled Sunday's final scoring three in the third end, two in the fourth plus a single point in the fifth to take a comfortable 6-2 lead halfway through the game. A single point in the ninth sealed the deal.
With the victory, Scott advances to the Scottie's Tournament of Hearts Jan. 31-Feb. 7 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
