Dozens of young phenoms will converge on tennis courts in New Glasgow and Stellarton this week as the Westside Tennis Jamboree prepares for another year of competition.
New Glasgow recreation tennis co-ordinators Kaitlin Cameron and Kathleen Graham say the tournament is an open invitational for players, both locally as well as Truro and Antigonish. It's not a requirement for competitors to belong to a recreation program.
Play begins Friday morning at the Westside court in New Glasgow and the Stellarton tennis courts at the Sobey Soccer Complex.
There are three divisions of under-12, under-15 and under-18 with boys' and girls' categories at each level. All tournament play is single.
The cost to enter is $10 and it covers tournament play as well as food and refreshments. All registered players are guaranteed more than one game should they sign up.
Organizers are asking competitors to register by Wednesday of this week. For more information call 752-3609 or 755-5393.
