OBERNDORF, Austria - Canadian freestyle skiers David Duncan and Julia Murray won bronze medals at a World Cup skicross event Tuesday.
Simon Stickl of Germany beat American Daron Rahlves in the men's final for his first career victory. Duncan, of Golden, B.C., was third and Michael Schmid of Switzerland was fourth.
Christopher Delbosco of Sudbury, Ont., was 10th.
"I'm extremely excited about the podium but I still have to keep my eye on the prize and that's qualifying and going to the Olympics," said Duncan.
Schmid, who won both season-opening races in San Candido, Italy, last month, still leads the overall standings with 250 points.
Ophelie David of France earned her 21st career win by defeating teammate Meryll Boulangeat to win the women's race.
Murray, of Whistler, B.C., finished third. Danielle Poleschuk of Calgary was 11th and Ashleigh McIvor of Whistler, B.C., was 12th.
"The first day of training I didn't feel like I was going to podium at all," said Murray, "I was very tentative on the hard ice but yesterday during qualifying we had two training runs and on the second run I managed to put it together."
David now leads the standings with 240 points, 40 clear of Sweden's Anna Holmlund, who had won the first two events of the season.
McIvor is third overall with 147 points and Murray is fourth with 123 points.
Skicross, which features a mass start and head-to-head racing on a course with turns and rolls, will make its Olympic debut in Vancouver.
The next World Cup skicross races will be staged in Les Contamines, France, on Saturday.
