With the stage name J.D. Fortune, one would think he would be living like a rock star. Well, not anymore.
The Canadian former INXS frontman (real name Jason Dean Bennison) - who grew up in Salt Springs and attended school in Pictou County - has been fired from the group and is now homeless, living out of his pickup truck. Ironically, the singer previously lived out of his car before becoming the winner on the Rock Star: INXS reality show in 2005.
The rocker, who became the band's new frontman following original frontman Michael Hutchence's death in 1997 toured with INXS since 2005. They even released Switch, the band's first album since Hutchence's death.
Fortune admits to becoming addicted to cocaine during his stint with the band. But the rocker says he has kicked his drug habit and put his money toward his debut solo album.
"I don't know where I am going from sofa to sofa, from night to night," Fortune said of his current living situation. "I am trying to get through my life."
Fortune's album Death Of A Motivational Speaker is set to be released later this year.
The rocker recently returned to his roots - to his alma mater, West Pictou Consolidated School, where he was preparing to film a video for the album's first single, White-Knuckle Flier.
