PAWFILES COLUMN: Boots has personality
When most people are looking for a cat or dog to bring into their lives, they often look for a kitten or puppy.
In response to the needs of our community, and to the recent employment loss in Pictou County, the Pictou County Women’s Centre has taken the lead in developing a coalition to reduce poverty within the county.
The role of the Pictou County Poverty Reduction Coalition will be to create and implement an action plan to address some of the issues that play major roles in poverty in our communities (child care, food security, housing, transportation, recreation, etc.). The coalition will be drawing from the results of a survey currently in circulation that is seeking to clarify whether any of these issues should be prioritized over others and whether any major community issue has been overlooked (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3NVN5K7).
All who are interested in getting involved with this community project are encouraged to contact Anna MacDermid at the Women’s Centre (755-4647).
