Glen Haven celebrating Continuing Care Month

Glen Haven Manor has many celebrations planned for Continuing Care Month in September.

The provincial theme, Continuing Care: Your Home, Our Passion, reflects the commitment of continuing care services to help people to live well in the place they chose to call home.

It also reinforces the skills and compassion of the many people who have chosen this caring field of employment.

Glen Haven will have a series of events throughout the month that will showcase its team as well as demonstrate extra appreciation for their work. There will be special ice cream treats on Sundays, scones and breakfast treats on Monday, barbecues on Thursdays, tailgate games and a scavenger hunt with prizes, clay art painting sessions and the return of the Glen Haven Solemates run/walk at the end of the month to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Continuing Care Month is celebrated annually by the Health Association of Nova Scotia and by continuing care employers throughout the province. The goal of the annual campaign is to recognize the contributions of the thousands of Nova Scotians who work in continuing care in a variety of practice settings across the province.

The Continuing Care Month provincial campaign is also about profiling the advances being made in Nova Scotia’s continuing care sector to improve quality of life and quality of care for the Nova Scotians who rely on these important services.

Glen Haven is a Canadian Accredited long-term care facility and will undertake the accreditation process again as part of its commitment to achieving international continuing care standards. The next as accreditation evaluation of the local long-term care facility will take place again in October 2019 with internationally certified surveyors conducting the evaluation. Glen Haven has received accreditation status for nearly 20 years.
