North Nova Education Centre students Mark Atwood and Julia Brown were recognized recently in receiving the Lieutenant Governor’s Education Medal.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Education Medal was introduced in 1961 and is the oldest of the 15 awards given in the name of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. The Education Medal is administered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The students are nominated by their school based on academic performance and qualities of leadership and service demonstrated in their school and community. This annual award is open to all Grade 11 high school students. Two recipients from each school are awarded the Medal each year.
