River John Fiddling Contest results


The 23rd River John Fiddling Contest was held at the River John Fire Hall on July 27.

Heather Cameron won the award for the highest score of a Pictou County contestant at the River John Fiddling Contest.

Judges were: Samantha Robichaud, Cliff Manley and Julie Johnstone. Piano accompanist was Stacey Read. Master of Ceremonies was Rod MacKay. The step dancers were: Sara Nelson, Merium and Meredith Hecks, Amelia de Arcos and Janelle Melanson from New Brunswick and Amelia Parker from Pictou.

 

60 years and over

 

First: Lorimer Higgins, Bridgewater. Trophy donated by Marjorie Fraser, Toney Mills and also $50 donated by Brian Craig of Pictou

 

Second: Mary Smith, North Rustico, P.E.I. Trophy and $45 donated by John MacLeod of River John

 

Third: Basil Miller, Bedford, N.S. Trophy donated by River John Festival Committee and $40 donated by John and Forlence Craib of River John

 

 

11 years and under

 

First: Amelia Parker, Pictou. Trophy donated by Craig Reid in memory of Elaine and Ian Reid. $50 donated by Robert and Lynn MacLeod in memory of Florence Killen.

 

Second: Sara Nelson, Lower Cloverdale, N.B. Trophy by Shelly and Muriel in memory of Charlie Haslam. $45 by Craig Reid.
