Music, food and fun on the agenda for ‘politics-lite’ event print this article
The News

NEW?GLASGOW – Youth, artists and musicians are coming together for an afternoon of down-to-earth music, food and festivities at a free outdoor concert on Oct. 4th at Glasgow Square's outdoor amphitheatre.
Old Man Luedecke, Coco Love Alcorn and Kev Corbett are among the list of performers who will be on stage during the event that kicks off at 1 p.m. and runs throughout the afternoon.
Other acts include Little Smoke, Strive and a number of very talented youth performers who will open up the day's events.
The event is organized around finding community driven solutions for a sustainable future, which has inspired other aspects of the program, including a songwriters circle entitled "Message in the Music", featuring Kev Corbett, Sonya Wood and others.
The afternoon will also include compelling and insightful art displays, local food producers and information on alternative energy, low impact and fair trade products and services.
"This is a 'politics-lite' event,” says organizer Justin Smith. “The focus is really on providing a space for young musicians to share their ‘music with a message’ and to get youth engaged in contributing to a sustainable future."
Smith became involved with the Young Greens of Central Nova when Elizabeth May announced her candidacy in the Central Nova Riding a year ago.
The event is Smith's brainchild, who was interested in getting other young people tuned in to the democratic process.
The event is presented by the Young Greens of Central Nova.
"Music is a great way to bring people of all ages together," said spokeswoman Victoria Cate May Burton.
"Not only is it fun but important to support events that allow artists to grow, to share and express their worldview."
