Local group wants to make youth resource centre a reality
The News
NEW?GLASGOW – Pictou County Roots for Youth Society has submitted an idea for a Youth Resource Centre in Pictou County to the Aviva Community Fund competition.
The Aviva Community Fund competition will see one group’s dream of a way to change their community come true.
The idea of the Pictou County Roots for Youth Society is to develop a Youth Resource Centre for homeless and at-risk youth.
“If our idea receives enough votes, it will have a chance at sharing in $500,000, to bring the idea of the Pictou County Youth Resource Centre to life,” said Christina Adamson, community development officer for the United Way.
“We would really appreciate your help in pushing our idea to the finals.”
County residents can vote for the idea once a day during the first three rounds of the competition. The winner of the round will see 20 ideas go through to the semi-finals, and the remaining ideas will remain in the running, although the vote count will be reset to zero.
“I know that all of you see the importance of having this service available in Pictou County and we need your help to make this dream a reality,” Adamson said.
“You can vote for our idea once per day, so be sure to vote every day you can. Tell all of your colleagues, your family and your friends. We are competing nationally. Together we can make this happen.”
People can vote for the Pictou County Youth Resource Centre idea at http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf2657.
