Sinkhole continues to deepen print this article
The News

STELLARTON – Barricades placed along North Foord Street are expected to remain in place for the next two weeks as crews continue to monitor a sinkhole that has developed there.
A third and larger subsidence Tuesday evening has damaged a sewer line running along the street and a bypass line will now have to be put in place. The eroding earth has also exposed a water main, however, it has not been damaged.
Town engineer Tony Addis said he doesn’t anticipate that the repair work will mean an interruption for residents.
At the same time, Addis said the municipality wants to keep an eye on the area in case there is a further subsiding.
As to what could be causing the sinkhole, it’s still uncertain.
While through traffic is blocked, businesses in the area continue to operate. Jungle Jim’s Restaurant, Sobeys head office and Eastern Sign Print are in a unique position because the sinkhole is very near the intersection that  serves as an entryway for the three.
Jungle Jim’s manager, Scott Kelly, said the restaurant is remaining open even though the position of the hole – and the barricades – will affect highway traffic to the business.

Don Roy from Brandon, Manitoba writes: I remember during a circus parade at New Glasgow during the mid-thirties, an elephant was lost in a sink hole. They never did find it.
I'm kidding of course :-)

Why do we not know what is causing the problem ???
