The News

PICTOU?COUNTY?– The Pictou County Ballantyne Fuels Pee Wee AAA Crushers made at strong showing at the 25th annual Bluewave Energy Atlantic Peewee Challenge Cup
The boys were on fire this weekend and took home two wins, a tie and a loss.
The first game saw the Crushers battle it out with the Moncton district three Caps for a final score of 2-2. Scoring first for Pictou County was Lane Cormier, assisted by Jacob Pentz and Lance Emery. County’s second goal was landed by Chance MacDonald and assisted by fellow Crushers Blair Dewtie and Logan MacDonald. Game MVP went to goalie Matt Murray for a fantastic job in nets.
The Crushers took a win in their second game against the Sackville Flyers. Final score was 2-0. Lane Cormier scored both of county’s goals, the first assisted by Kirklin Murray, the second, was unassisted as Cormier was able to round the back of Sackville’s net and deke out three of their players to plant one in the top shelf. Crushers’ goalie Jacob Morash received a shutout, after defending county’s nets against Sackville. Game MVP went to Logan MacDonald for his hard work in the corners.
Pictou County’s third game was a disappointing loss against the Yarmouth Mariners, with a final score of 5-1. The Crushers only goal was scored by Blair Dewtie midway through the third period and was unassisted. Game MVP was awarded to Dewtie.
Crushers took their second win in their final game of the Bluewave Energy Atlantic Challenge Cup against TASA. Final score was 4-3.
In the first period, Lane Cormier once again fired in two goals, his first was unassisted while fellow teammates, Graig Murray and Colin Holmes set Cormier up for his second. Late in the second period, Colin Holmes notched a single for Pictou County after receiving a pass from Cormier. Chance MacDonald landed County’s final and winning goal early in the third, assisted by Logan MacDonald. Game MVP went to Lane Cormier for an outstanding game.
