Comedy and music of ’Tis the Season coming to deCoste

’Tis The Season is celebrating 10 years of touring throughout the Maritimes to sold-out houses and rave reviews, a release says.

This year, the show will appear in concert halls in New Brunswick and across Nova Scotia, including Pictou’s deCoste Centre, starting Dec. 2.

’Tis 10 stars Bette MacDonald, one of Canada’s best-known comedic actors.

She is presently appearing in her sixth season as Trudy on the award-winning CBC-TV show, Mr. D. MacDonald is a two-time Canadian Screen Awards nominee and Gemini award-winner.

MacDonald teams up with husband and fellow actor/director Maynard Morrison, along with actress/comedian Mary-Colin Chisholm (Haven, Cloudburst, Pit Pony), guitar virtuoso Joe Waye Jr. and rising singer-songwriter Jordan Musycsyn, who has been honing his acting chops as part of the cast of Cape Breton Summerime Revue – The Next Generation.

The troupe presents an array of sketches and music putting their irreverent stamp on the holiday season.

“It is hard to believe it has been 10 years,” says MacDonald, “but we’re not looking back. We’re looking forward to a brand new show and this year there is so much to celebrate!”

This year’s tour will see the return of some of the show’s more colourful characters – Mary Morrison “who has several major bones to pick so don’t get rid of the turkey carcass,” according to MacDonald; Beulah Claxton, the aging nightclub diva on the first of her final farewell tours; and Wayne, Martin and Cujo who will be finding new ways to outsmart the law.

“For the first time ever,” says MacDonald, “we’re going to meet Donnie and Marjorie’s son who has been guilt-tripped into coming home for Christmas. Let the reindeer games begin!”

The tour is a Brookes Diamond Production.

’Tis The Season 10 will be at the deCoste on Dec. 8 and 9.
