Salt and Light is an all-sibling Bluegrass band consisting of six brothers and sisters from a family of 10 who live in Graham, North Carolina. They range in age from 21 to 11 years old. All the members of Salt and Light are vocalists, taking turns in singing both lead and harmony.
Salt and Light has many mentors in the Bluegrass community enabling them to derive their own, energetic brand of Bluegrass music, which is also heavily influenced by aspects of Celtic music, according to a release about their upcoming performance.
The Young’uns from the U.K. are renowned for their pitch-perfect harmonies and rapid-fire humour. They are billed as engaging and heart-warming, enabling them to build a rapport with the audience.
The band performs a cappella or subtly accompanied songs alongside traditional songs from their native communities and further afield.
Both groups will be on stage July 4 and 5 at the deCoste Centre. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $20.
