It’s time to fill up the Pictou County Food Bank.
The annual food drive will take place once again Thursday in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Business Centre from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tom Foley of the Pictou County Food Bank said both non-perishable and monetary donations will be accepted throughout the day at the trailer located in the parking lot.
The event is co-sponsored each year by Tim Hortons, Sobeys, The News, Connors Transfer and East Coast FM.
Last year, the drive surpassed the 12,000-pound mark, both in food items as well as cash donations. Each dollar is counted as a pound of food.
- said the Pictou County Food Bank collects the bulk of its donations between November and December, and that also helps carry it through the quieter months.
However, the food bank is also reaching its busiest time of year as people start to stretch their income to accommodate fuel and electric bills as well as holiday shopping.
