With Halloween now past, Pictou County Christmas Fund volunteers are meeting to begin planning for the annual telethon that raises money to provide a Christmas dinner to those who might need a little help in getting one ready for their loves ones.

This year’s telethon will be held Sunday, Nov. 26 at the deCoste Performing Arts Centre. The show, as in previous years, runs 1-7 p.m. and is broadcast live on East Coast FM radio station as well as on Eastlink TV. The deCoste is open to anyone who wants to come and see the performances live, and viewers are also able to make a pledge at the same time.

“Come on to the deCoste Centre,” says PCCF chair Debbie VanSickle. “We love to have guests.”

Registration dates for the food vouchers will be held prior to the show: Nov. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Pictou for those who live in the Pictou area, and Nov. 15, 16 and 17 at Summer Street Industries, also from 1 to 4 p.m., for those who live in New Glasgow and the surrounding towns. Health cards must be presented for every person being registered in a family.

Ann MacGregor, who helps arrange entertainment for the annual event, says there will be a little bit of everything at this year’s show — “everything from classic country to pop, rock, choir and more!”

A financial goal of $80,000 has been set — which is the same as last year.
