Lyons Brook – Monday morning Pictou County District RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter into a service station in Lyons Brook.
RCMP Cpl. Ron Bryce said the break in was reported by staff when they arrived to work around 6 a.m.
“It occurred some time through the night,” he said.
When police arrived on scene they found that the culprits had gained entrance to the service station by forcing the front door open. Once inside, the culprits stole a large quantity of cigarettes and a safe containing a quantity of cash from the building.
While he couldn’t say the exact amount that was in the safe, Bryce said the cigarettes are believed to be worth the more substantial amount.
Police believe there may be some nearby video surveillance in the area that may be of use in their investigation. An RCMP ident unit was also on scene Monday to look for clues as they continue the investigation.
