People can enjoy a winter carnival as the Town of New Glasgow's fourth annual Chill Out Festival is coming to the New Glasgow Farmers Market on Jan. 13.

Families and children can partake in colouring, snowshoeing and other snow activities, the ECFM snowman building zone and the Sobeys Chilli Competition, to name a few.

“It keeps getting bigger” said Janine Linthorne, New Glasgow’s program and events co-ordinator. “We couldn’t be happier or prouder of this event and how the community has embraced Chill Out.”

The Sobeys Chilli competition promises to be bigger than last year’s. Five groups of competitors are expected, including New Glasgow firefighters, local media, chefs, home cooks and, new for this year, is a NNEC vs. NRHS competition.

The town has teamed up with Tim Hortons again this year and will have free hot chocolate and coffee available outside with the ice sculpture and s’mores bar.

The 2018 Chill Out will also be hosting chef Gilles Godin of the NSCC again this year, taking on the big ice block.

The Chill Out festival will also mark the opening of the New Glasgow Farmers Winter Market.
