NEW GLASGOW

Central Nova MP Sean Fraser wants your help to show gratitude to veterans of Pictou County. This coming Remembrance Day, Fraser will pay a visit to the Northumberland Veterans Unit at Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital in Pictou.
Fraser will be visiting to pay his respects and to participate in the afternoon service. When he goes there, he wants to be able to bring cards of thanks to the 20 veterans who live in that unit.

Fraser has extended a request to constituents in Pictou County to sign or make cards – ones that can include drawings from children or local artists – which he plans to personally deliver to the veterans on Remembrance Day.

My grandfather and my wifes grandfather both served our country, and I have the most profound respect for those who have served, and continue to serve our country, said Fraser. Im pleased to do anything that I can do to show my own gratitude, and help others express that to those who served our country.

Denis Chipman, a recreation therapist with the hospitals veterans unit commended Frasers idea, describing it as a great way for the people of our communities to say a sincere thank you to our Second World War and Korean War veterans.
He added, The veterans willingly gave up their lies for a free and peaceful Canada. Its our duty as Canadians to ensure that their memories are never forgotten.
Although individual names of the veterans will not be shared, due to the need for confidentiality, staff at the veterans unit will work with Fraser to make sure all the veterans see each card he delivers.

To provide cards

Cards can be dropped off at MP Sean Frasers office, or mailed postage-free to MP Sean Fraser, 2A-115 MacLean St., New Glasgow, NS, B2H 4M5.

Fraser requested that all cards be mailed by Oct. 27 to allow time for processing and collection. If any cards are received after Remembrance Day, they will be delivered to the unit at a later date.
