UPDATED: Bank robbery in Westville

WESTVILLE - Around 11 a.m., Westville Police received a 911 call of an armed robbery at the Scotiabank on Main Street, Westville. 

Westville Policing Service stated in a press release that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived. 

The suspect, a 30-year-old Westville male and vehicle was apprehended a short time later at exit 18 outside Truro.

Westville police were assisted by Stellarton Police, Pictou County Street Crime Unit and RCMP.

Police continue to investigate this incident.

Westville police chief Donald Hussher praised the cooperation among police departments.

"We got the word out quick and everybody responded and we were able to apprehend him quickly," Hussher said.
