Unhappy trails? Parks documents show concerns with Icefield Highway bike path
It sounds like a no-brainer — a bike trail alongside a world-famous scenic highway through two of Canada's best-loved national parks.
The town of Pictou is about to get a taste of live pro wrestling action.
The stars of MainStream Wrestling Entertainment will unleash their “13th Anniversary Supershow” inside the Colonel Welsford MacDonald Armoury on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
The line-up includes a mix of homegrown wrestling television personalities along with professional talent from France and the United States.
Closer to home is Halifax’s Narcis Saint, who appears Saturday afternoons on NTV’s Legends of Wrestling telecast. From Stonehurst comes Sidewalk Sam, a 10-year competitor of diverse talents. Aside from carrying the MSW Tag Team Title, the bearded rule-breaker’s also a critically acclaimed published author of “Promises: Based on A True Experience With Schizophrenia.” From Hants County, Cody Youngblood makes his Pictou debut.
Heavyweight Champion, “Boston Bad Boy” Jason Rumble is a cornerstone of the Maritime circuit, and is excited about visiting Pictou for the first time. The 17-year veteran is a multi-time NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion and the creator of “VCW Live!” on New England TV. The Boston native’s MainStream Title defence in Pictou will mark the first Heavyweight Wrestling Title Bout in the community’s history.
Rounding out the American stable is Forest Cullen of Forks, Washington. Forest will marvel Pictou County fans when he competes in the second main event bout of the night: a ladder match. Cullen and his opponent will use a real ladder during their match, both as a stairway to the contract hanging above the ring, and an equalizer against the other as the warriors vie for the right to be named No. 1 contender to the MSW Heavyweight belt.
Also appearing at the Pictou debut will be the Ladies of Wrestling.
On the international plane, the “Female Phenom” Serphantina comes all the way from France to defend her Atlantic Canadian Championship. Her challenger is USA’s Lizzie Raze, who is 6-feet, 4-inches tall.
Tickets for MainStream Wrestling Entertainment’s Supershow debut in Pictou go on sale Saturday at The Video Nook in Pictou, and Abercrombie Variety & Video in New Glasgow. For more info visit “MainStream Wrestling in Pictou” on Facebook and on Twitter @MSWPro.
